ABTA’s annual Convention has evolved with the industry and continues to develop each year to ensure its value and relevance for delegates.
The Travel Convention is the UK travel industry’s flagship event, providing inspiration and learnings to delegates through an outstanding programme of thought-provoking content. The event has been designed to challenge the way delegates think and approach their business to help them develop and maintain a successful and sustainable travel organisation, while providing them with ample time to network with peers and experts working with the industry.
The event has established its identity as the forward-looking event in the tourism sector, providing the opportunity for ABTA’s Members and the wider industry to understand what lies ahead and to shape the travel industry of tomorrow, rather than be shaped by it.
The Travel Convention is themed to ensure it carries a consistency of message and relevancy, with the business session programme built around four key pillars: Our World, Our Industry, Your Business and Your Network..
what’s going on and what lies ahead?
the issues and emerging trends affecting the industry
best business practice and innovations coming down the line
quality networking with fellow delegates
The Travel Convention is attended by senior professionals spanning the full breadth of the mainstream and specialist travel industry including all forms of travel retailer, tour operators, cruise lines, hotels and airlines.
It is also attended by travel industry specialists (accountants, lawyers, insurance providers) and those providing business knowledge and advice to the industry (from technology providers to marketing experts).
The Travel Convention attracts circa 30 travel journalists from the UK’s national, consumer and travel trade media - more than any other UK travel industry conference held overseas.
Numbers for this year’s Convention are capped at 500, to provide delegates with the optimum event and networking experience.
The Travel Convention takes place over three days. This year’s event includes two days of plenary sessions; an afternoon of specialist workshop sessions; two lunches; two evening parties and three late night bars.
In addition, optional activities include a football match, golf tournament, a charity bike ride and local excursions.
This year’s Travel Convention will take place in Seville at the five star Barceló Sevilla Renacimiento hotel, well-known in the city for its architecture and design that evokes the Guggenheim Museum in New York. The internal convention centre at the hotel is recognised as the best in Seville, making it the ideal location for this year’s event.
The Barceló Sevilla Renacimiento will provide the majority of Travel Convention delegate accommodation. Additional delegate accommodation is available at the Eurostars Torre Sevilla, which occupies the top 13 floors of the highest skyscraper in Andalusia.
